I try and serve as a positive role model that epitomizes personal health and fitness, enjoyment of activity, sportsmanship, and sensitivity of all students by interacting with the students during activities as much as possible. I will tell them my stories and experiences with each sport and fitness area whether it is current or in past. I also will team up with different students every unit and play in their games.
I utilize innovative learning experiences by using schoology at the beginning or end of lessons. I use multiple teaching methodologies including direct teaching, teacher and peer feedback, convergent discovery, and team game tournaments. Depending on where I am in the unit will determine which methodology I use.
I assume responsibility for my professional growth by participating in all district and departmental professional development sessions. I also participate in coaching conferences and clinics and am actively involved in fitness implementation.
I utilize the Delaware PE standards to authentically asses students by tracking their progress through the year. I do this by using skill based assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of each semester. I also quiz the students on basic strategy and rules of sports. For fitness, I have the students create and utilize their own fitness plan throughout the semester.
